The Street That Will Be

Our current projects

Over the next three years a variety of projects will delivered on King Street, including:

Refurbishing key buildings to conserve their architecture and improve the appearance of the street - enabling future generations to appreciate and be proud of our local heritage.

Improving the public spaces to make the street a more inviting and attractive place to spend time, meet with friends and attend cultural events.

Working together on these key projects, we will breathe new life into King Street. We will conserve, protect and celebrate the Street's fantastic heritage. We will use this unique heritage to attract investment - supporting local businesses and attracting new ones - to create jobs, encourage more footfall and provide something for everybody on King Street.

Through the Heritage Action Zone programme we will provide opportunities for employment and learning in the heritage, construction and hospitality sectors. Property and business owners will be offered clear guidance and support when they begin new development ventures and by celebrating together, we will develop a sustainable, fun and enjoyable programme of cultural events.
