We’re collaborating with Wigan Local History and Heritage society to uncover the hidden tales of King Street and the people who once lived, worked and played there.
A new series of talks, called #KingStreetTheStreetThatWas will present fascinating stories of families long-forgotten, staring with the Timberlake family and their unique link to the Wallpaper Supplies building on Library Street.
At a first glance, the building looks quite ordinary but if you look up to the roofline and windows and look down at the kerb line, you will see that it still has lots of intriguing features, giving clues to its captivating past.
Jim Meehan of the Society had the privilege of being shown around the inside of the building, where in parts it still has all its original features.
